Small City E-Bike
The briefing from MINI was to embody the MINI-Experience in a new Vehicle. To get a better feeling, I firstly experienced a MINI for myself. More concrete the MINI Cooper e. With all the impressions and information together with the idea to step into a new market for MINI, I started developing a MINI E-Bike. The goal was to make it ride like MINIs are famous for. From my experience that was sporty, dynamic and lively. The design too should be noticeably MINI but brought to a new era. With the MINI E-Bike one should get from A to B quite quickly in cities but more importantly have fun while doing that. Thanks to its electric drive hidden in the rear hub, the whole package could be invented from the scratch. Batteries are placed very low and to make it more convenient, are removable. Right above them there is a reasonably sized luggage compartment that can be reached from the side or from the hinged seat. The suspension too is quite unique. Both wheels, front and rear, are mounted on single sided arms that are bolted to two counter-rotation links. The suspension setup is comfortable but supportive. Also quite unique is the handlebar. It rises quite high but that is because the body of the E-Bike is very low and to guarantee an ergonomic posture.
Die Aufgabenstellung von MINI war es, die MINI-Experience in ein Fahrzeug zu übertragen. Um diese besser zu verstehen und auch selbst zu erfahren war eine Testfahrt in einem MINI Cooper e Pflicht. Mit den gesammelten Informationen und der Idee, einen neuen Markt für MINI zu eröffnen, wurde ein MINI E-Bike entwickelt. Es sollte dieselben Fahreigenschaften wie ein klassischer MINI verkörpern, sportlich, spritzig und aufgeweckt. Auch das Design sollte MINI sein, aber neu interpretiert und zukunftsorientiert. Man soll damit in der Stadt schnell von A nach B kommen dabei aber spaß haben. Dank des elektrischen Antriebs in der Hinterradnabe konnte das gesamte Package neu gedacht werden. Die Batterien sind herausnehmbar im untersten Teil des Bodys. Darüber befindet sich ein Gepäckraum, welcher von der Seite oder von oben durch den hochklappbaren Sitz erreichbar ist. Einzigartig ist auch die Radaufhängung. Sie besteht vorne wie hinten aus einseitigen Schwingen, welche mit zwei gegenseitig rotierenden Links am Body befestigt sind. Hier befindet sich auch die auf Komfort ausgelegte Federung. Die Lenkerposition wirkt auf den ersten Blick sehr hoch, doch ist das gesamte Fahrzeug sehr niedrig. Der weit nach oben laufende Lenker sorgt somit für eine ergonomische Sitzposition.
